I was moved in ways I understand, and in ways that have yet to be consciously understood. It’s about so many things—adoption, psychology, love, family, self-identity, racism, classism, financial disparity, cultural heritage, appropriation, genetics, generosity, wisdom, parenting, compassion, generational trauma, mental health, personal growth, pain, determination, healing, sacrifice, courage—that the deeply provocative layers take time to sort through. I laughed, I cried, I thought, and will continue to do so whenever I think about this extraordinarily beautiful film.
